Darker Than Night

30 September - 5 November 2016
'Fulya Çetin's 'Darker Than Night' exhibition is extended until 19 November 2016'

Fulya Çetin’s solo exhibition “Darker Than Night” will meet the audience between 30 September 2016 - 5 November 2016 at SANATORIUM.

The exhibition includes the artist’s recent works taking shape about Family-State-Woman and the Masculine domination. Underlining through oil paintings and video installations how male hegemony, the greatest dictate of society, is approved, supported, glorified and justified, the artist renders visible the struggle of women within this system.

Fulya Çetin transforms images belonging to a celebration almost into a silent mourning. The exhibition “Darker Than Night”, in which we will witness again the “reality” through metaphors from the stories of female prisoners who had to kill in order to live against male violence, can be seen at SANATORIUM, until November 5 2016.

“The  vision  a  woman  has  for  her  own  life  can  also  be  decimated  in  the  flames  of someone else’s jealousy or someone’s plain-out  destructiveness  toward  her.  Family, mentors, teachers, and friends are not supposed to be destructive if and when they feel envy,  but  some  decidedly  are,  in  both  subtle  and  not-so-subtle  ways.  No  woman  can afford  to  let  her  creative  life  hang  by  a  thread  while  she  serves  an  antagonistic  love relationship, parent, teacher, or friend.”
