Merve Şendil, born in Ankara in 1982, graduated from the Painting Department of the Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts. She established the “Underscene Project” in 2007 and participated in guest programs in France and Hungary as well as joint exhibitions in Finland, Switzerland and Germany. Her works usually offer clues about real life and her expectations. Merve Şendil uses various techniques and materials to depict the realities of her own imaginary universe. For this, she inevitably uses sounds either produced by herself or in collaboration with other artists. In her recent works, she used books and stories she has written herself to establish integration between written and visual languages. She believes that the hand knitted works makes a connection between her fantasy and the real world. The artist lives and works in Çanakkale.
