Erol Eskici constructs his practice around the manner and possibilities of various artistic mediums interacting with the diverse data he collects regarding the topics and areas that interest him. The physical and chemical properties of different mediums, their application methods, and the formal possibilities and meanings that arise when they interact with different themes and disciplines result in a classification mechanism developed by the artist in this direction. Accordingly, fluid and soluble materials associated with water can be considered in the context of layering, geology, and stratigraphy; oil-based materials within anthropology and natural history; and formable materials such as wood and stone within the frameworks of monumentality and the concept of monuments. In this context, the artist occasionally establishes different connections and transitions between the researched topics and areas.
