And Every Single Step Of The Way

1 September - 3 October 2015

“The intolerable brightness faded, and slowly the torn edges of the world closed together. Nearby a voice was speaking as softly as a tree whispers or a fountain plays.
Starlight began to shine again, and the grasses of the hillside were whitened with the light of the moon just rising. The night was healed. Restored and steady lay the balance of light and dark. The shadow-beast was gone.”
Ursula Le Guin

“Reflecting moon was shining on the vibrant world. Stones were folding shiny, endless serenity. Finally, shadows were disappearing in this timeless land. The journey was ending where he met the sea, and every single step of the way was belonging to him and me.”

SANATORIUM will be exhibiting Gizem Akkoyunoğlu’s black and white charcoal and graphite drawings in her first solo exhibition ‘And Every Single Step Of The Way’ between 01.09 – 03.10 2015. Designed in three chapters, the exhibition illustrates sequences of a character’s journey.  During the journey, function the way becomes the aim rather than the means.  The character rediscovers self and the surrounding and comes to the end where the real journey is comeback.
