SANATORIUM will host Ali İbrahim Öcal’s solo exhibition entitled “NATURE MORTE / salto mortale” between December 15, 2017 – January 27, 2018.
The exhibition, which includes works by the artist constructed as painting, sculpture, video and installation and created with seven different techniques, explores the deep balance between nature, its existence and the human being. The common ground of the works in the exhibition is that the pieces and images composing the works all come from places where the artist lives or strolls around and these habitats are carried piece by piece to the gallery space through different contexts.
Instead of presenting unilateral, unchangeable information, singular stories within the whole of images are shown inside a world of imagination that waits to be sensed by the audience. The artist carries the products of the natural ecosystem in which he lives from the public space to a private structure, namely, the gallery, in a way to raise visibility and awareness.
